Kepa’s loan to Real Madrid looks less likely than ever to be turned in to a permanent move.

The Spaniard went straight into the team to replace the injured Thibaut Courtois, but after some disappointing games has found himself regularly alternating with youngster Andriy Lunin.

Lunin has made some mistakes of his own, but that doesn’t really help Kepa’s cause unless he himself can find some consistency in goal.

Sport are today claiming that the permanent move is never going to happen, for the simple fact that Chelsea are going to ask €25m for the Basque they paid €80m for all those years ago.

Nobody is going to pay €25m for Kepa to be their number one, let alone to be their number two. Real Madrid are rich, but they’re generally smart with their money, and they certainly don’t go investing sums like that on backup players – especially backups who have disappointed.
